Home Sales in Bullhead City Arizona Stay Strong

By Michael Fahey | November 4, 2009

With Virginia, New Jersey and the congressional race in New York the evening news may have something other to report on than the current real estate and economic crisis. While some Democrats are sharing their conservative views and some Republicans are sharing their liberal views, it is no wonder that the real estate market is on its ear too!
As 2009 draws near the finish line we continue to positively look forward to 2010. Comparing the last 12 weeks with the prior 12 week period we are confident that our local market is beginning to stabilize. Although the Single family homes are down slightly the under contract homes are up 7%. Competition in the market continues to decline with fewer homes coming on the market. The week of October 19th saw a peak of 31 homes going under contract. We speculate that this was directly connected to deadline date for the $8,000 first time home buyer tax credit that mandates that the homes must close escrow by November 30, 2009 to qualify.
Last week we received a call to action and Michael and I both called our Senators to ask them to vote in favor of extending the tax credit into next year as well as opening it up to return buyers. Although I have not received information that this was passed my sources are reporting that the Senate is in agreement and just waiting to for Congress hammer out the details and vote. I have heard that they may be voting soon.
This is great news for home sellers and buyers in our area In the event the current homeowners qualify for this new tax credit, I expect to see many “move up” buyers enter the market in the next few months.
